Hand Stained
If you choose to have your cabinetry stained at Custom Woodworks we use old world techniques by using a deep penetrating stain that is hand applied to reveal the beauty of the rich hidden wood grain. Once surfaces are stained they are then evenly hand rubbed and wiped clean of excess stain. To complete the process the surfaces are then allowed to slowly air dry.
Quality Finish
Rub your hand over one of Custom Woodworks products and compare our finish to anyone else's. To achieve this great finish first all of the wood components are hand sanded and then a stain color of your choice if any are hand applied. Once each component is hand stained a coat of catalyzed conversion varnish sealer is sprayed on. After the sealer each component is painstakingly hand sanded to assure adhesion and a smooth surface that is prepped for the top coat. Finally the top coat which is also a catalyzed conversion varnish is sprayed on. With only the sealer and the top coat you will have a finish that will last for generations that is guaranteed. Each piece is resistant to water, nail polish remover and alcohol and more. This ensures that Custom Woodworks cabinetry is appropriate for everyday use for years to come.
Custom Woodworks uses a finish that is a new generation of post-catalyzed conversion varnish finishing system that offers the ultimate in durability. This finish is a water white, non-yellowing formula that is specifically designed for interior wood surfaces that are exposed to extreme moisture, heat or household chemicals.

The stain colors are shown as they appear on carefully selected red oak. However, as wood is a natural material, slight variations occur in texture, color, grain configuration and stain acceptance. Because of this, we are unable to guarantee stains will be an exact match and we recommend testing on the wood they are going to applied on before making a final color selection.
Clear To White Finishes and Any Color In Between
Glazing adds depth to 3-dimensional surfaces, imitates aging, and produces decorative patterns on interior wood surfaces. Glazing will create a beautiful 3-D look that provides depth and rich color.
Three Step Sanding Process
Our sanding process entails several steps. The first step involves a belt type sander that removes all planer marks. The second step is started immediately before the staining process begins. This step involves using a hand held electric sander along with hand sanding to ensure the ultimate in smoothness. To ensure a smooth finish the third sanding is done by hand with sandpaper, after the sealer has been applied.
Distinguishing Finish from Wood
Sometimes things are not as they appear. For example, "cherry finish" may mean only that a piece of cabinetry has a reddish stain or a finish similar to cherry wood, even though it contains no real cherry at all. We don't do that. If you're in the market for solid hardwood cabinetry, ask for it by name.
